Jeffrey Thomas is a distinguished actor and writer hailing from Wales, who has made a significant impact on the entertainment scene in New Zealand. Born in Llanelli, South Wales, he was raised in a household fluent in Welsh, where his grandmother's passion for drama sparked his early fascination with performance. Initially, Thomas pursued a career in quantity surveying after finishing school, but found the monotony of office life unfulfilling.

Seeking a more creative path, he enrolled at Liverpool University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in both English Literature and Celtic Studies. It was during this time that he began to hone his skills in writing and acting through participation in university revues. He furthered his education at Oxford University, where he obtained a Master's degree in Literature.

While studying at Oxford, he met and married a New Zealand native, which led to their relocation to Australia, where he taught at La Trobe University. In 1976, the couple moved to Wellington, New Zealand. There, Thomas taught romantic and Victorian poetry at Victoria University before fully committing to his acting and writing career in 1977. Throughout his career, Thomas has become celebrated for his diverse roles across film, television, and stage, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in New Zealand's artistic landscape.
