Roland Frederick Godfrey MBE, widely recognized as Bob Godfrey, was a distinguished English animator whose impressive career spanned over five decades, from 1921 until his passing in 2013. Born on May 27, 1921, Godfrey made significant contributions to the world of animation, particularly in children’s programming.
He gained widespread acclaim for creating beloved series such as *Roobarb* in 1974, *Noah and Nelly in... SkylArk* from 1976 to 1977, and *Henry's Cat*, which aired from 1983 to 1993. His unique style and engaging storytelling captured the hearts of young audiences across the UK. Additionally, Godfrey is remembered for his memorable Trio chocolate biscuit commercials that became iconic during the early 1980s.
Among his notable achievements, Godfrey produced the short film *Great* in 1975, which humorously chronicled the life of the renowned engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. This film earned him both a BAFTA and an Academy Award, highlighting his talent in combining entertainment with historical narrative.
