José Asunción Martínez Sancho, a renowned Spanish actor, was born in 1944 in Manises, Valencia. With a career spanning over fifty years, he has made significant contributions to both Spanish television and cinema. Sancho's cinematic journey began at the tender age of four with his role in the film *Si te hubieses casado conmigo* (If You Had Been Married to Me) in 1948, directed by Viktor Tourjansky.

His breakout role came in the late 1970s when he portrayed The Student in the popular TVE series *Curro Jiménez* (1977–1978), a show directed by notable filmmakers like Pilar Miró and Mario Camus. After a two-decade hiatus from leading TV roles, he returned in 1995 with *Carmen y familia*, sharing the screen with Beatriz Carvajal and his former *Curro Jiménez* co-star, Álvaro de Luna. The following year, he appeared alongside Rocío Dúrcal in the television series *Los negocios de mamá* (1997).

In 2000, he played Don Rafael Alvarado in the series *The Queen of Swords*, setting the stage for a prominent role in the beloved series *Cuéntame* (Tell Me!), where he portrayed Don Pablo from 2001 to 2008, further solidifying his status in the industry. He has been married to journalist Reyes Monforte and has a son, Alejandro, from his previous marriage to singer María Jiménez.
