Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua, MBE, is a prominent British professional boxer renowned for his accomplishments in the heavyweight division. He emerged as a unified world heavyweight champion, capturing the IBF title in 2016, followed by the WBA (Super) and IBO titles in April 2017. Between 2015 and 2016, Joshua also held the prestigious British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles at the regional level, showcasing his dominance in the sport.

Before turning professional, Joshua excelled as an amateur, competing in the super-heavyweight category. He earned a silver medal at the 2011 World Championships and achieved Olympic glory by winning gold for Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics. His transition to professional boxing in 2013 was met with immediate success, as he was recognized by The Ring magazine as their Prospect of the Year in 2014.

Joshua holds a unique distinction as the second British boxer, following James DeGale, to win both an Olympic gold medal and a world title sanctioned by a major professional body. Notably, he also became the first British heavyweight to achieve this remarkable feat. Furthermore, he is only the second boxer in history, after Joe Frazier, to secure a world heavyweight title while still reigning as the Olympic champion in the top weight class.
