Barbara Kyagulanyi, born on September 7, 1984, is a prominent Ugandan author and philanthropist renowned for her commitment to social causes. She is married to the well-known pop musician and political figure, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine. In 2012, she made her literary debut with "Golden Memories of a Village Belle," which showcases her storytelling prowess.

In 2013, Barbara established Caring Hearts Uganda, a non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering young girls through leadership initiatives, education, and health awareness, particularly regarding HIV/AIDS and menstrual hygiene. Her NGO actively promotes traditional values, lifelong learning, malaria prevention, and entrepreneurship, aiming to foster sustainable development among youth. Notably, she has contributed to building educational facilities for internally displaced and marginalized children.

Barbara ventured into politics in 2018, championing her husband’s campaign for a parliamentary seat and later his presidential bid in 2020. She emphasized the importance of addressing issues concerning women, children, and youth in her political platform. During the tense political climate surrounding the 2020 elections, she advocated for Bobi Wine’s release when he was detained at Nalufenya, gaining media attention for asserting that their struggle was for the oppressed populace of Uganda, not just their family. Both she and her husband were later placed under house arrest, continuing their fight against military trials for civilians.
