Deven Verma

Deven Verma was a prominent Indian actor celebrated for his exceptional talent in comedic roles, particularly in films directed by esteemed filmmakers such as Basu Chatterji, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, and Gulzar. He not only showcased his acting prowess but also ventured into production and direction, with "Besharam" being one of his notable projects. Verma's illustrious career earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Comedian three times, recognizing his performances in "Chori Mera Kaam," "Chor Ke Ghar Chor," and "Angoor." The latter, directed by Gulzar, is often hailed as one of Bollywood's finest comedies.

Born on October 23 in an unspecified year, Verma grew up in Pune, where he pursued his education at Nowrosjee Wadia College for Arts and Science, part of the University of Pune. His personal life saw him married to Rupa Ganguly, the daughter of the legendary Bollywood actor Ashok Kumar and sister to Preeti Ganguly.
