Initially starting her career as a child model under the pseudonym Carolyn Lee, Lynley transitioned to acting after gracing the cover of LIFE magazine at just 15 years old.

Lynley made a significant impact early in her career, starring in both the Broadway and film adaptations of the 1959 drama "Blue Denim." This powerful story dealt with themes of unwanted pregnancy and abortion, showcasing her ability to tackle complex subjects. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Newcomer – Female the same year.
