Ed Leslie
Edward Harrison Leslie, widely recognized in the wrestling world as Brutus The Barber Beefcake, is an American semi-retired professional wrestler who made a significant impact in the industry, particularly during his tenure with WWE. His career began in the mid-1970s alongside his close friend Hulk Hogan, where he initially wrestled under names such as Ed Boulder and Dizzy Hogan.
Leslie made his mark in the WWF in late 1984, adopting the flamboyant persona of Brutus Beefcake, complete with extravagant attire and a reputation for vanity. His early rivalries included notable names like David Sammartino and Hulk Hogan, especially after Beefcake injured Hogan's ally, Hillbilly Jim, alongside his manager "Luscious" Johnny Valiant.
In 1985, he formed "The Dream Team" with Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. The duo quickly rose to prominence, claiming the WWE World Tag Team Championship on August 24, 1985, by defeating The U.S. Express. They held the titles for eight months until losing to the British Bulldogs at WrestleMania 2.
Beyond wrestling, Leslie made headlines in 2004 when he caused a scare at Boston's Downtown Crossing station due to a misunderstanding involving cocaine, which led him to seek rehabilitation. His personal life includes two marriages, the second to Barbara McGondel, with whom he shares a daughter named Alana. In addition to wrestling, Leslie has worked as a manager at Planet Fitness in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and embraced his faith as a born-again Christian.
