She gained recognition for her performances in a series of films, including "The Unfaithful," "That Way with Women," and "Love and Learn," all released in 1947. Jane's career began with her signing a contract with Warner Bros., making her film debut in "Her Kind of Man" in 1946. That same year, she showcased her talent in notable films such as "Deception," "Night and Day," and "Humoresque."

Harker is particularly remembered for her role as Alice in the popular 'Joe McDoakes' short films, where she starred alongside George O'Hanlon. Her portrayal of Alice McDoakes became a defining aspect of her career, leading to eight appearances in the series. In addition to her film work, she gained a following as a glamour model, featured in various 'cheesecake' magazines both in the U.S. and abroad.
