Laouni Mouhid
Laouni Mouhid, better known by his stage name La Fouine (Arabic: لاوني محيد), was born on December 25, 1981. He is a prominent French rapper and singer of Moroccan descent, also recognized by aliases like Fouiny Babe. La Fouine is the founder of the clothing line "Street Swagg" and the record label Banlieue Sale.
Growing up in Trappes, just outside Paris, Laouni was the second youngest of seven siblings born to Moroccan parents from Casablanca. His upbringing in a bustling family influenced his artistic journey, which he references in his track "Je regarde là-haut." He left school at age fifteen to pursue music, honing his craft while active in the collective GSP. During this time, he also joined the short-lived group "FORS", achieving notable recognition in rap competitions.
In 1998, La Fouine faced a setback when he was imprisoned. He later became a father to a daughter named Fatima in 2002, after which he experienced personal tragedies, including his mother's passing in 2005, which inspired his poignant song "Je regarde là-haut."
La Fouine's career took off with his debut album, **Bourré au Son** (2005), and he quickly followed with **Aller-Retour** in 2007, featuring hits like "Reste en Chien." His third album, **Mes Repères** (2009), was certified platinum, solidifying his status in the French rap scene. He continues to be influential in music, representing his roots and experiences through his art.
