Amy Lynn Hartzler, better recognized as Amy Lee, is the dynamic frontwoman of the rock band Evanescence. Born on December 13, 1981, in Riverside, California, she is the daughter of John Lee, a disc jockey and television personality, and Sara Cargill. Following her family's relocation across several states, including Florida, Illinois, and ultimately Arkansas, Amy developed her musical talents early on, dedicating nine years to classical piano training.

Her journey into the music industry began in 1994 when she met guitarist Ben Moody at a summer camp. Impressed by her vocal and piano skills, Moody encouraged her to form a band, which eventually evolved into Evanescence after experimenting with various names such as Childish Intentions and Stricken. The band caught their first break in 2000 with a demo collection titled "Origin," released under Big-Wig Enterprises.

Evanescence gained widespread acclaim following their 2003 record deal with Wind-Up Records, leading to the launch of their breakthrough album, "Fallen." This monumental release achieved 7x platinum status and catapulted the band into international stardom. Their discography continued to flourish with "The Open Door" in 2006 and their self-titled album "Evanescence" in 2011. Amy Lee's powerful voice and emotive songwriting have solidified her status as a defining figure in the rock genre.
