Marcia Karen Wallace (November 1, 1942 – October 25, 2013) was a celebrated American actress and comedian, renowned for her memorable contributions to television sitcoms. Her most iconic role was as the witty receptionist Carol Kester on the beloved 1970s series The Bob Newhart Show. Additionally, she portrayed Mrs. Carruthers on Full House and lent her voice to the beloved character Edna Krabappel on the animated hit The Simpsons, a role that earned her an Emmy Award in 1992. Following her passing, the character of Edna was retired, though she continues to be featured through archived recordings.
