Jason Frederick Kidd, born on March 23, 1973, is a renowned former professional basketball player who currently serves as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA, where he is also expected to acquire a minor ownership stake, subject to league approval. Kidd, a prolific point guard, is celebrated for his exceptional career, which includes ten All-Star selections, five First Team All-NBA honors, and nine All-Defensive Team selections. His crowning achievement came in 2011 when he secured an NBA championship with the Dallas Mavericks.

Kidd grew up in Oakland, California, and showcased his talent at the University of California, Berkeley, playing for the Golden Bears before being selected second overall in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks. He won the co-NBA Rookie of the Year accolade in his debut season. Over the years, Kidd had impactful stints with the Phoenix Suns (1996-2001) and the New Jersey Nets (2001-2008), where he guided the team to back-to-back NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003. After returning to the Mavericks mid-season in 2007-08, he played a pivotal role in their championship run.

Kidd concluded his playing career with the New York Knicks in 2013, retiring briefly before stepping into coaching with the Nets. Renowned for his passing and rebounding skills, he ranks third all-time in regular-season triple-doubles (107) and second in playoff triple-doubles (11).
