Chris Tummings
Chris Tummings is a versatile artist whose professional acting journey commenced in 1979 with Mustapha Matura’s production, Welcome Home Jacko, staged at The Factory in London. As a founding member of the Black Theatre Co-operative, he played a pivotal role in producing works that highlighted the Black experience. Over the years, Chris has built a robust career across theatre, television, and film, while also showcasing his talents as a singer and musician.
His theatrical accomplishments include notable productions such as Soul Sister at the Savoy Theatre, followed by a UK and worldwide tour, The Harder They Come at the Playhouse Theatre with its subsequent global tour, and The Big Life at the Apollo Theatre.
In television, Chris took on leading roles in series such as No Problem (LWT), Desmond’s, and the comedy sketch show Get Up Stand Up on Channel 4. More recently, he has appeared in The Widow on Amazon Prime and Stay Close on Netflix. Currently, audiences can catch him in The Bezonians, which is available in select cinemas and on various streaming platforms. Chris’s diverse contributions to the arts continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.
