Fazlur Rahman Babu

Fazlur Rahman Babu, born on August 22, began his journey in the performing arts in 1978 by joining the Baishakhi Natya Ghosthi theatre group in Faridpur. His first significant appearance came at a national drama festival that same year. While establishing his acting career, he also worked at Agrani Bank and relocated to Dhaka in 1983, where he became a member of the Aranyak Natyadal theatre group, led by Mamunur Rashid. Babu's notable performances in this group included roles in acclaimed plays such as "Nankar Pala," "Pathar," and "Moyur Shinghashan."

Babu transitioned to television acting with Kazi Nazrul Islam’s soap opera "Mrittu Khuda" in 1991 on Bangladesh Television (BTV). However, it was his memorable portrayal of Poran Majhi in Rashid's drama "Itikatha" that paved the way for further television roles in productions like "Shundari" and "Danab." He also featured in the Bengali film "Daruchini Dip," directed by Toukir Ahmed, with story contributions from the esteemed Humayun Ahmed. Although widely recognized for his comedic roles, Babu initially garnered attention for his serious performances in stage dramas like "Danab" and "Jay Jayanti."

Continuing to balance television and theatre work until 2000, Babu eventually focused solely on television due to its demanding schedule. He made his film debut with Abdullah Al Mamun’s "Bihanga" around 2000-2001. Additionally, Babu ventured into music, contributing two songs to the film "Monpura" and releasing his first solo album, "Indubala," in 2009, along with participating in the mixed album "Monchor" in 2008.
