Mamukkoya, a beloved figure in Malayalam cinema, was renowned for his comedic talent and distinctive use of the Mappila dialect, which contributed significantly to his popularity. Over the span of his illustrious career, he appeared in more than 450 films, earning the distinction of being the inaugural recipient of the State Award for Best Comedian in the Malayalam film industry.

Born on July 5, 1946, to Chalikandiyil Muhammed and Imbachi Ayisha in the village of Calicut, Mamukkoya was the youngest of two siblings, with an elder brother named Koyakutty. He completed his early education at MM High School in Calicut. He married Suhara, and together they raised four children: Muhammed Nisar, Shahitha, Nadiya, and Abdul Rasheed, residing in Beypore, near Kozhikode.

Mamukkoya's journey in the arts began with theater, and he made his film debut in 1979 with "Anyarude Bhoomi." His next project, "Doore Doore Oru Koodu Koottam," directed by Sibi Mayil, further established his presence in the industry. His collaboration with director Sathyan Anthikkad, facilitated by scriptwriter Sreenivasan, led to his memorable role as Gafoor in the iconic film "Nadodikkattu" (1987), which solidified his status as a comedic actor. Notably, his performance in "Perumazhakkalam" (2004) showcased his range, earning him the Kerala State Award for Second Best Actor. Additionally, he portrayed a forest brigand in "Korappan, the Great" (2001), further proving his versatility as an actor.
