Kaaren de Zilva
Kaaren de Zilva was born in the United Kingdom and raised in Canada, showcasing a rich tapestry of heritage with roots in Sri Lanka, Portugal, and the Netherlands. From an early age, she pursued her dream of acting, honing her skills at the Gastown Actors' Studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, under the guidance of Mel Tuck, and further enhancing her craft with renowned instructors Ivanna Chubbick and Larry Moss.
Kaaren made her professional acting debut in the coming-of-age film "Anything for Love," starring Corey Haim. Her career trajectory continued to ascend as she took on various roles in both television and film. She gained notable recognition for her appearances in popular series such as "Stephen King's Dead Zone," the award-winning "DaVinci's Inquest," and recurring characters in "DaVinci City Hall" and "The L Word." Additionally, she appeared in the horror film "Hellraiser VI: Hellseeker."
A significant milestone in Kaaren’s career came in 2007 with her role as an ultrasound technician in the Oscar-nominated film "Juno." Her performance alongside Ellen Page and Allison Janney stood out, highlighting the emotional weight of her character's influence on the story's teen protagonist. That same year, she starred in the thriller "Post Mortem" and also completed work on "The Last Mimzy" as well as the mini-series "Dragon Boys," which delves into the complexities of Asian crime triads.
Outside of acting, Kaaren adheres to a rigorous fitness routine and enjoys playing pool and Texas Hold 'em poker. She cherishes moments spent with her Bernese Mountain Dog and aspires to take on unique roles that explore the depths of the human experience. Ultimately, she dreams of founding her own production company to further her artistic vision.
