June Lang

June Lang, born Winifred June Vlasek on May 5, 1917, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was a prominent American film actress whose career spanned from the early 1930s to the late 1940s. The daughter of Edith and Clarence Vlasek, she initially pursued dance, performing in child-oriented revues before her mother encouraged her to venture into Hollywood. Lang made her film debut in 1931 and quickly attracted the attention of Darryl F. Zanuck at 20th Century Fox, where she began to secure supporting roles in B films.

With her delicate and graceful demeanor, Lang was often cast as the innocent younger sister or the heroine's loyal friend in lighthearted comedies and adventure films. As her career progressed, she earned leading roles that showcased her talent, such as in the 1935 classic "Bonnie Scotland" alongside the comedic duo Laurel and Hardy. She further distinguished herself in "The Road to Glory," a 1936 war drama featuring Fredric March, Warner Baxter, and Lionel Barrymore, with a screenplay partially penned by the renowned William Faulkner. Lang also appeared in John Ford's 1937 film "Wee Willie Winkie," starring alongside child star Shirley Temple, Cesar Romero, and Victor McLaglen. Throughout her career, June Lang left an indelible mark on the film industry, remembered for her charm and versatility as an actress. She passed away on May 16, 2005.
