His legacy continued to resonate in popular culture, particularly with the release of the film "Painted Faces" in 1988, which depicted the experiences of young students at the China Drama Academy, with Sammo Hung portraying Master Yu. Yu Jim-Yuen passed away from a heart attack in Los Angeles, California, leaving behind a rich legacy that continues to inspire martial artists and actors worldwide.
