Her stage name is inspired by Geena Davis's character in the action film "The Long Kiss Goodnight." Charli's upbringing was influenced by a diverse heritage, with a German father and an African-American mother, and she was primarily raised by her older half-sister, Yolanda.

After completing her studies at Pierce College and becoming a mother to two daughters, Charli's life took a pivotal turn when she encountered the legendary Notorious B.I.G. at a concert in 1995.
