William Warren Bradley, born on July 28, 1943, is a distinguished American politician and former professional basketball athlete. A prominent member of the Democratic Party, he served as a United States Senator from New Jersey from 1979 until 1997 and made a bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in the 2000 election, where he ultimately lost to then-Vice President Al Gore.

Hailing from Crystal City, Missouri, located about 45 miles south of St. Louis, Bradley displayed exceptional talent in basketball from an early age. He achieved significant academic success and earned accolades as an all-county and all-state player during his high school career. Despite receiving 75 offers for college scholarships, he chose to attend Princeton University, where he further honed his basketball skills. In 1964, he contributed to winning a gold medal as part of the United States Olympic basketball team and was named the Most Outstanding Player during the 1965 NCAA Tournament, leading Princeton to a third-place finish.

After his graduation in 1965, Bradley expanded his horizons by attending Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship, joining Worcester College, which allowed him time to contemplate his future in professional basketball before eventually entering the NBA. Throughout his life, Bradley has made significant contributions both on and off the court, leaving a lasting legacy in sports and politics.
