Jonathan Kaplan
Jonathan Kaplan (November 25, 1947 - August 1, 2025) was a prominent American film director and producer, recognized for his significant contributions to the entertainment industry. Born in Paris, France, he hailed from a talented family; his father, Sol Kaplan, was a notable film composer, and his mother, Frances Heflin, was an actress. He was also the nephew of acclaimed actor Van Heflin and had siblings in the acting world, including actresses Nora Heflin and Mady Kaplan.
Kaplan's career reached a pinnacle with his acclaimed film The Accused (1988), which not only secured Jodie Foster her first Academy Award for Best Actress but also gained a nomination for the prestigious Golden Bear at the 39th Berlin International Film Festival. His television work was equally impressive; he received five Emmy nominations for his outstanding direction and production on the beloved medical drama ER.
In addition to his film and television achievements, Kaplan showcased his versatility by directing Rod Stewart's music video for "Infatuation" in 1984, further demonstrating his creative prowess across various media.
