Barbara Dare
Barbara Dare, originally named Stacy Mitnick, was born on February 23, 1963, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Raised in a Jewish household in Wayne, New Jersey, she attended Wayne Hills High School before pursuing a degree in Buying and Merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Dare's entry into the adult film industry occurred in the mid-1980s, influenced by her adventurous lifestyle at the famous swinger's club, Plato's Retreat. She quickly rose to prominence, becoming one of the first adult actresses to secure an exclusive contract with Essex Video, valued at $100,000. Over her career, she starred in more than 100 adult films, establishing herself as a leading figure in the industry.
Her exceptional talent earned her the AVN Best New Starlet Award in 1987, followed by accolades for Best Actress in 1989 and Best All-Girl Sex Scene in 1990. Dare's contributions to adult entertainment were recognized with her induction into both the AVN Hall of Fame and the XRCO Hall of Fame. She also appeared in mainstream publications like "Hustler," "Swank," and "High Society," and took on a notable role in the R-rated film Evil Toons in 1992.
