Maude Barlow
Maude Victoria Barlow, born on May 24, 1947, is a prominent Canadian author and activist renowned for her dedication to environmental and social justice. She serves as the national chairperson of The Council of Canadians, a grassroots organization that advocates for citizens' rights and sustainable practices throughout the country. Barlow is also the co-founder of the Blue Planet Project, an initiative that champions the fundamental human right to access clean water on a global scale.
In addition to her leadership roles, Barlow chairs the board of Food & Water Watch, a Washington-based organization focused on ensuring safe and sustainable food and water resources. She is an executive member of the International Forum on Globalization, located in San Francisco, and also holds a position as a Councillor with the World Future Council in Hamburg.
Her influence in the field of water advocacy was recognized when she was appointed as Senior Advisor on Water to the 63rd President of the United Nations General Assembly during 2008 and 2009.
