Judith Wood, originally named Helen Johnson, was born on August 1, 1906, and passed away on April 6, 2002. She was a prominent American film actress whose career began with her debut in the 1929 musical, *Gold Diggers of Broadway*. Initially credited as Helen Johnson, she transitioned to the name Judith Wood with her role in the 1931 film *It Pays to Advertise*, featuring Carole Lombard.

In 1931, Wood gained recognition as one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars, a distinction shared with notable actresses such as Marian Marsh and Karen Morley. That year alone, she starred in six films, showcasing her talent in an era that was pivotal for women in cinema. However, her career faced a setback following a serious automobile accident, leading to a period of recovery that slowed her momentum.

Despite her early successes, including a role in the original Broadway production of *Dinner at Eight*, where she portrayed Kitty Packard, she saw limited opportunities in subsequent years. By 1934, her film roles dwindled, with only a few credits to her name, including an uncredited appearance in *The Asphalt Jungle* (1950), marking the end of her on-screen career.

Wood married Percival Christopher Wren Jr. on March 17, 1939, in Tokyo, Japan, after which she retired from acting but remained a resident of Los Angeles until her passing at the age of 95.
