Danai Jekesai Gurira, born on February 14, 1978, is a talented actress, playwright, and activist with roots in Zimbabwe and the United States. She gained international acclaim for her portrayal of Michonne in the popular AMC series The Walking Dead, a role she held from 2012 to 2020 and reprised in 2022, as well as in the upcoming series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live set to debut in 2024. Additionally, Gurira made her mark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Okoye, appearing in the blockbuster films Black Panther (2018) and its sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022).
