Jacqueline Pagnol

Jacqueline Andrée Pagnol (née Bouvier; 6 October 1920 – 22 August 2016) was a prominent French actress known for her contributions to cinema during the 1940s and 1950s. Born in Camargue, she spent her childhood caring for her aunt's goats, which later influenced her artistic sensibilities. Jacqueline pursued her passion for drama, honing her skills in acting.

Throughout her career, she featured in numerous French films, with six of those directed by her husband, the esteemed writer and filmmaker Marcel Pagnol. Notably, she played a significant role in bringing to life the character inspired by her own early experiences in the classic film "Manon des Sources." Beyond her acting, Jacqueline held the copyright to Marcel Pagnol's literary works, overseeing all adaptations of his stories for film.
