Julian Black Antelope
Julian Black Antelope, a talented Canadian actor and stunt performer, boasts a rich heritage of Irish and First Nation ancestry. Raised by a non-Indigenous family, he spent his formative years near Fort MacLeod, adjacent to the Kainai (Blood) and Piikani Blackfoot Reserves, where he initially had limited exposure to his cultural background. At the age of 15, he embarked on a journey to reconnect with his Indigenous roots, ultimately forming meaningful relationships with Blackfoot elders who guided him in understanding his heritage. Reflecting on his identity, he has remarked, “I’m half-Irish and half some kind of Indian.”
Julian gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Darrien Tailfeathers on the acclaimed television series Blackstone, which delves into the complexities of contemporary Indigenous life. In addition to his acting career, he has made significant contributions to the independent film scene, showcasing his versatility as a writer, director, producer, and editor. Notably, he worked on the 2019 feature film Harpoon, further establishing his presence in the industry. Julian Black Antelope continues to be an influential figure, blending his artistic talents with a dedication to honoring and promoting Indigenous narratives through his work.
