Sue Bernard
Susan Bernard, born on February 11, 1948, gained fame as Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month in December 1966, with her iconic centerfold captured by renowned photographers Mario Casilli and her father, Bruno Bernard.
Her career in film and television was relatively brief and sporadic; she had a notable role in the popular soap opera General Hospital during the late 1960s and made appearances in various television series, typically credited as Sue Bernard.
At the time of her Playboy shoot, she was involved in the production of Russ Meyer’s cult classic, Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!. She has often been recognized as the first Jewish Playmate of the Month, although Cindy Fuller, Miss May 1959, has also claimed this title. In an interview featured in the August 1998 edition of Femme Fatales, Bernard highlighted her unique position, stating, "I was the first under-18 Jewish virgin who was in the centerfold placed in front of a Christmas tree," and noted that prior to her Playboy shoot, she had never posed nude in front of anyone but her mother.
As of November 2008, Bernard was actively working on three books that delve into her father’s legacy as a photographer.
