Shunta Nakamura

Shunta Nakamura

1 title Acting Jul 26, 1977 Tokyo, Japan

Shunta Nakamura (中村 俊太), born on July 26, 1977, is a former Japanese actor and current golf instructor hailing from Tokyo. The eldest son of renowned actor and singer Masatoshi Nakamura (中村 雅俊) and actress Junko Igarashi (五十嵐 淳子), Shunta grew up in a prominent artistic family alongside three younger sisters, including Risa Nakamura (中村 里砂), who has made a name for herself as a fashion model and actress.

Shunta's early career in the entertainment industry showed promise, but it took a significant turn on April 4, 2009, when he was arrested by the Metropolitan Police for violating the Cannabis Control Act due to possession of a small amount of cannabis in Suginami Ward, Tokyo. His father, Masatoshi, held a press conference the following day to announce Shunta's dismissal from his agency, which Masatoshi presided over, and Shunta's decision to retire from acting. On April 14, he was released after receiving a suspended prosecution, given that he was a first-time offender and expressed remorse for his actions. Although there were plans for a public apology, it never materialized.

In October 2011, reports emerged of Shunta's new career path as a golf instructor at a school in Minato, Tokyo. When asked about a potential return to acting, he stated that it was not the right time for him to re-enter the entertainment sphere.
