Leila Hatami
Leila Hatami, a celebrated Iranian actress, was born on October 1, 1972, in Tehran, into a family steeped in the arts. Her father, the esteemed director Ali Hatami, and her mother, actress Zari Khoshkam (Zahra Hatami), introduced her to the world of cinema from an early age. Leila's early roles in her father's works, such as the historical series Hezar dastan (1978) and the biopic Kamalolmolk (1984), showcased her talent. She further captivated audiences with her portrayal of Leila, a blind Turkish princess, in the film The Love-stricken (1992).
After completing high school, Hatami relocated to Lausanne, Switzerland, where she initially studied Electronic Engineering before shifting her focus to French Literature. Upon finishing her studies, she returned to Iran and made a significant impact in the film industry with her leading role in Dariush Mehrjui's Leila (1997), which garnered her critical acclaim and the Diploma of Honor for Best Actress at the 15th Fajr Film Festival.
In 1999, she married her co-star Ali Mosaffa, and they are proud parents of two children, Mani and Asal. Throughout her career, Hatami has collaborated with notable Iranian filmmakers, including winning the Best Actress award at the 26th Montreal World Film Festival for The Deserted Station (2002). Her remarkable performance in Asghar Farhadi's A Separation (2011) earned her the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival, solidifying her status as one of Iran's leading actresses.
