Marcel Maréchal
Marcel Maréchal (December 25, 1937 – June 11, 2020) was a distinguished French actor, writer, and director whose contributions to the theatrical world spanned more than six decades. He launched his acting career in 1958 by establishing the Théâtre du Cothurne in Lyon, where he began to showcase his talent. Throughout his career, he collaborated with various esteemed institutions including the Théâtre du Huitième, Théâtre du Gymnase, Théâtre National de la Criée, Théâtre du Rond-Point, and Trétaux de France, leaving an indelible mark on the French theatre scene.
In 2001, Maréchal also founded the Festival Théâtral de Figeac, a platform dedicated to celebrating theatrical arts and contemporary playwrights. His commitment to modern literature was evident in his support for notable writers such as Jacques Audiberti, Jean Vauthier, and Louis Guilloux. Maréchal's artistic prowess earned him several invitations to the prestigious Festival d'Avignon, where he showcased his innovative approach to theatre.
