Silvio Laurenzi
Silvio Laurenzi (May 20, 1936 – November 5, 2021) was a distinguished Italian costume designer and actor, born in Rome. His cinematic journey commenced in the early 1960s, where he initially carved a niche for himself as an actor. By the mid-1970s, Laurenzi began to shift his focus towards costume design, a field in which he would ultimately excel, particularly within the realm of Italian sexy comedies.
Despite his success as a costume designer, Laurenzi maintained a presence in front of the camera, often taking on small yet memorable roles. He frequently portrayed quirky characters, often embodying the humorous, effeminate man. Notable performances include his appearances in two films directed by Steno: in "La patata bollente" (1979), he engaged in comedic exchanges with lead actor Renato Pozzetto, and in "Mi faccia causa" (1984), he played a lawyer who comically addressed the magistrate, Christian De Sica, while defending his client.
Throughout his career, Laurenzi's work in costume design earned him recognition in the film industry, allowing him to contribute to the distinctive aesthetics of numerous productions. His legacy is marked by a unique blend of talent in both acting and design, making him a notable figure in Italian cinema.
