Steve Pemberton
Steve Pemberton is a celebrated actor and writer from Blackburn, UK, who has made significant contributions to the world of comedy. He earned his BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts from Bretton Hall in Yorkshire in 1989. Following his graduation, Steve immersed himself in London's theatrical scene, both producing and performing in various small-scale productions while also serving as the assistant editor for the International Film Guide at Variety.
In 1996, alongside his college friends Mark Gatiss, Reece Shearsmith, and Jeremy Dyson, he debuted their comedy show, The League of Gentlemen, at the Edinburgh Festival. Their exceptional work was recognized when they clinched the prestigious Perrier Comedy Prize the following year. This success propelled the group into the limelight, leading to a radio series, four BBC television series, three live tours, and a feature film.
In 2009, Steve and Reece collaborated on the dark comedy Psychoville, which garnered multiple awards and ran for two series plus a Halloween special. Their innovative anthology series, Inside No 9, premiered in 2014, and in 2019, Steve received a BAFTA for Best Male Comedy Performance. The series also won BAFTAs for Scripted Comedy and Comedy Writing. Currently, Steve resides in North London with his partner and their three children, continuing to delight audiences with his creative endeavors.
