Michelle Chong received her foundational education at CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' School, followed by Dunman High School and Victoria Junior College, where she embraced her passion for drama. Encouraged by her drama teacher, she pursued further studies at Bates College, a prestigious liberal arts institution in Maine, USA, focusing on theatre for a year. She later continued her education at the National University of Singapore. In 2002 and 2003, FHM readers recognized her as one of the world's top 30 sexiest women.

Chong gained acclaim for her acting, winning the Elle Actress of the Year Award in 2008 and receiving a Highly Commended accolade for Best Comedy Performance at the Asian Television Awards for her role as Beh Li Choo, a butcher in the beloved dramedy "Sayang Sayang." She is also well-known for her portrayal of the celebrity maid, Leticia Bongnino.

In 2011, Chong embarked on a significant career shift, taking a seven-month sabbatical to establish her film production company, Huat Films. Under this venture, she not only directed and wrote her debut film, "Already Famous," but also starred in it alongside Taiwanese singer Alien Huang and other local celebrities in cameo roles.

In 2012, she founded Left Profile, an artiste management agency that represents herself, Pornsak, and Lee Teng. "Already Famous" was selected as Singapore's entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards, although it did not advance to the final shortlist.
