Jamie Raskin
Jamin Ben Raskin, born on December 13, 1962, is a prominent American attorney, law professor, and politician currently representing Maryland's 8th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2017. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Raskin previously held a seat in the Maryland State Senate from 2007 until 2016. His congressional district, which initially spanned parts of Montgomery County and extended into rural Frederick County, was redrawn in 2022 to focus solely on portions of Montgomery County.
Raskin has been a leading voice in Congress, notably co-chairing the Congressional Freethought Caucus. He gained national attention as the lead impeachment manager during the second impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, which followed the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Prior to his congressional career, Raskin was a respected constitutional law professor at American University Washington College of Law, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the LL.M. program focused on law and government. Additionally, he co-founded the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, aimed at enhancing constitutional understanding among high school students.
