Andrea Sawatzki
Andrea Sawatzki, born on February 23, 1963, in Kochel am See, is an esteemed German actress recognized for her extensive work in film and television. Since 2002, she has portrayed police inspector Charlotte Sänger in the Hessischer Rundfunk adaptation of the renowned crime series Tatort, a role that has solidified her status in the industry.
Sawatzki's career gained international attention through her performances in notable German films, including Bandits and Das Experiment. She is the daughter of a nurse and a journalist and has been in a long-term relationship with actor Christian Berkel since 1997; together they have two sons and reside in Berlin.
Her acting journey began after she completed her studies at the Neue Münchner Schauspielschule and undertook an internship at the Munich Kammerspiele. From 1988 to 1992, she performed in various theaters across Stuttgart, Wilhelmshaven, and Munich. Her film debut came in 1988 with Faust – der Film, directed by Dieter Dorn. Sawatzki gained widespread recognition in 1997 with her role as Alma Siebert in Die Apothekerin, and she rose to prominence as a leading actress in Germany through her portrayal of Charlotte Sänger in Tatort from 2001 to 2009.
In addition to her film work, she has starred in successful projects like Late Show, Leo und Claire, and has appeared in acclaimed TV series such as Der König von St. Pauli and Die Manns. In 2003, she was featured in a Playboy magazine spread and has lent her voice to audiobooks, including stories for the series TV-Kommissare lesen Krimis and the novel Glennkill. In 2007, Sawatzki served as the godmother for the Deutscher Kinderpreis (German Children's Award).
