Carola Toelle
Carola Toelle began her illustrious career at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin in 1916, quickly becoming a prominent figure in the German film industry. By 1917, she was securing leading roles in productions with Deutsche Bioscop, and later with various other film companies. After six years of prolific work in cinema, Toelle shifted her focus entirely to the stage, showcasing her talent as a freelance actress. She graced the stages of esteemed venues such as the Deutsches Künstlertheater and the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, as well as the Small House of the Municipal Theater in Frankfurt am Main.
During World War II, she returned to film, taking on several supporting roles, and in 1944, she earned a spot on the God-blessed list issued by the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. Following the war, Toelle continued to thrive in her craft, performing at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and later at the Renaissance Theater in Berlin starting in 1951.
Toelle's personal life included a marriage to actor Ernst Stahl-Nachbaur from 1919 until their divorce in 1925. She was also the sister of actress Uschi Elleot, further embedding her in the fabric of the German theatrical community. Throughout her career, Toelle remained a dedicated performer, leaving a lasting impact on both theater and film.
