Ameesha Patel
Ameesha Patel, born in Bombay's Breach Candy Hospital, is the granddaughter of esteemed freedom fighter and former Justice Rajni Patel. Known affectionately as Angel and Princess, she grew up alongside her younger brother, Ashmit Patel, who is also an actor in Bollywood. Her name creatively combines elements from her father Amit and mother Asha.
Ameesha's academic journey began at the prestigious Cathedral and John Connon High School, leading her to earn a degree in Economics from Tufts University in Massachusetts. She initially worked in finance while also pursuing modeling. From the age of five, she trained in the classical dance form of Bharat Natyam and gained theatrical experience through performances in Satyadev Dubey's plays, including "Neelam."
Her entry into acting was serendipitous; during a family gathering, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan offered her a leading role in "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai." The film's massive success catapulted her into stardom. Ameesha continued to shine in a variety of films, such as "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha," "Humraaz," and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa," earning four awards for her performances in "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai" and "Gadar."
Despite facing personal challenges, including public family disputes and high-profile relationships, Ameesha has proven her critics wrong, establishing herself as a versatile and captivating actress in the film industry. Her collaborations with notable stars such as Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan further highlight her status in Bollywood.
