Kate McNeil, born in 1959, is a prominent American television actress whose career spans several decades. She launched her acting journey in 1981 with a role on the soap opera *As the World Turns*. McNeil made her film debut in 1982 in the comedic feature *Beach House*, initially credited as Kathy McNeil, and later showcased her versatility in the horror genre with the 1983 slasher film *The House on Sorority Row*, where she was billed as Kathryn McNeil.

Over the years, McNeil made significant contributions to television, including her appearances in the miniseries *Kane & Abel* in 1985 and *North and South Book II* in 1986. She collaborated with renowned director George A. Romero in the 1988 horror film *Monkey Shines*. In the 1990s, she portrayed Janet Gilchrist in the final three movies of *The Waltons* series and appeared in various television shows, including *WIOU* and *Bodies of Evidence*.
