Ieva Ilvesa
Ieva Ilvesa (born Ieva Kupče on September 13, 1977) is a distinguished Latvian diplomat, politician, and expert in cybersecurity policy, who also holds the notable title of former First Lady of Estonia. In 2019, she made her mark in European politics by running as a candidate for the European Parliament, securing third place on the Development/For! list, following Baiba Rubesa, the previous CEO of Rail Baltica.
Ilvesa's career has been characterized by her significant contributions to national security. She served as the head of the National Cyber Security Policy unit and was a Political Advisor to the State Secretary at Latvia's Ministry of Defence. Her commitment to civic issues is evident in her role as a founding member of several non-governmental organizations dedicated to security, democracy, and human rights.
In 2016, Ieva Ilvesa married Toomas Hendrik Ilves, then the President of Estonia, and during her tenure as First Lady, she championed various social causes until the conclusion of his presidency in October 2016. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2023, marking a new chapter in her life as she continues to influence the realms of diplomacy and cybersecurity.
