Carolyn Coates
Carolyn Coates, born in Oklahoma City, spent her formative years in Santa Monica, California, where she honed her acting skills in children's theater. Pursuing her passion, she studied acting at the University of California, Los Angeles, and later gained valuable experience performing with various stock theater companies in the Eastern United States.
In 1951, while portraying "Eliza Doolittle" in a production of "Pygmalion" in Worcester, Massachusetts, she met James Noble, who is best known for his role as "Governor Gene Gatling" on the television series *Benson* (1979). Their shared love for the stage led to a fruitful partnership, both personally and professionally, as they collaborated on numerous theatrical productions. Among their notable performances are acclaimed plays such as Eugene O’Neill’s *Long Day's Journey into Night* and Edward Albee’s *A Delicate Balance*.
