Bill Flynn

Bill Flynn, born in Cape Town in 1948, discovered his love for the performing arts early in life. Alongside his burgeoning interest in show business, he excelled in athletics, notably playing first team rugby while pursuing drama at the University of Cape Town. As a founding member of the acclaimed Space Theatre, Flynn collaborated with the iconic Yvonne Bryceland in Athol Fugard’s poignant play 'Hello and Goodbye.' His portrayal of Johnnie garnered him his first Best Actor award in South Africa, in addition to the prestigious Dublin Best Actors Award.

With a remarkable career spanning over 150 stage productions, Flynn showcased his exceptional versatility across various genres, including tragedy, farce, drama, pantomime, and musicals. His talent did not go unrecognized, as he received a total of 13 Best Actor Awards throughout his career. Known for his quick wit, Flynn often aimed to bring laughter to his fellow actors on stage.

In addition to his extensive theater work, Flynn also made significant contributions to film, featuring in over 42 movies, among them the notable title 'Oh Shucks, Here Comes UNTAG.' His legacy is marked by his ability to seamlessly blend humor with drama, leaving a lasting impact on South Africa's theatrical landscape.
