Samantha Barks
Samantha Jane Barks, born on October 2, 1990, is a talented actress and singer from the Isle of Man who gained recognition after finishing third in the 2008 BBC talent competition, I'd Do Anything. Throughout her career, she has released three studio albums: Looking in Your Eyes in 2007, the self-titled Samantha Barks in 2016, and Into the Unknown in 2021. Her cinematic debut came in 2012 when she portrayed Éponine in Tom Hooper's adaptation of Les Misérables. Her remarkable performance earned her the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer, as well as a shared National Board of Review Award alongside her fellow cast members.
Barks appeared alongside Jonathan Bailey in the Disney Channel’s musical-comedy series Groove High, which aired from 2012 to 2013. The two later reunited in the 2016 revival of the musical The Last Five Years in London. In 2018, she made her Broadway debut, taking on the role of Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman: The Musical. Since 2021, she has been captivating audiences as Elsa in the West End production of Frozen, although she has recently taken some time off for maternity leave. With her diverse talents and impressive stage presence, Barks continues to be a prominent figure in the performing arts.
