Carolyn Maloney
Carolyn Jane Maloney (née Bosher), born on February 19, 1946, is a prominent American politician known for her extensive service as a U.S. Representative. She represented New York's 12th congressional district from 2013 until 2023, and prior to that, she served New York's 14th congressional district from 1993 to 2013. Her constituency encompassed significant areas, including much of Manhattan's East Side, Astoria, Long Island City in Queens, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and Roosevelt Island. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Maloney's political career faced a turning point in 2022 when she lost her primary bid to incumbent Jerry Nadler after redistricting merged their districts.
Maloney has made history throughout her career, becoming the first woman to represent New York City's 7th Council district and the first woman to give birth while in office.
