Tomoya Kanki
Tomoya Kanki (神吉 智也, Hepburn: Kanki Tomoya), born on June 27, 1987, in Hyogo, Japan, is a talented musician renowned as the drummer for the acclaimed band One Ok Rock. Although he joined the group after its inception, Tomoya has played a crucial role in every One Ok Rock album, contributing to their dynamic sound and energetic performances.
As the oldest member of the band, Tomoya's musical journey began in junior high school, where he showcased his skills in a brass band, mastering various percussion instruments like the tambourine and xylophone. His passion for music deepened during high school, leading him to form his own band and pursue music intensively. After completing his education, he moved to Tokyo to further his studies at a technical college.
Tomoya's big break came while attending the ESP Musical Academy, where a lecturer connected him with One Ok Rock, who were in search of a drummer. After initially performing as a support musician, he officially became a member just before the band’s major debut.
Beyond his musical career, Tomoya celebrated a personal milestone when he announced his marriage on June 9, 2017. He is a proud father to three sons, born in November 2017, May 2019, and March 2021, balancing his family life with his thriving music career.
