Ruth Lawrence

Ruth Lawrence is an accomplished filmmaker hailing from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. She has made a significant impact in the film industry with her remarkable feature films, including *Little Orphans*, which was awarded Best Canadian Feature at the Whistler Film Festival in 2020. Her 2018 release, *Hopeless Romantic*, further showcased her storytelling prowess, and her latest comedy, *Party Pirate*, garnered tremendous success, selling out its Gala premiere at the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival in October 2023.

In addition to her feature work, Ruth has produced noteworthy documentaries such as *A Lot of Love in the Room* (2021) and *Circus by Komatik* (2019), both of which have been showcased on CBC Gem. With a prolific career spanning over 70 short films and webisodes, she has also engaged in writing two upcoming feature films alongside collaborators Sherry White and Emily Bridger.
