Lida Protopsalti, born Lydia Protopsalti on January 24, 1940, in Piraeus, Greece, is a distinguished actress with a remarkable career spanning several decades. She honed her craft at the Drama School of the Art Theatre and is the sister of renowned soprano Elsa Castella. Protopsalti began her artistic journey at the tender age of six with her first audition, and by twelve, she had already made her stage debut, paving the way for a prolific theatrical career.

In 1969, she became one of the founding members of the Vimata troupe, and from 1974 onward, she has been a key collaborator with the Stoa Theatre. Her film career commenced early, with her debut at just ten years old in "My Child Must Live," followed by notable roles in films like "The Devil's Socks," "El Greco," and "The Rose of Smyrna."

On television, Protopsalti has graced numerous series across various networks, including EIRT, YENED, and ET1. A standout performance in 1995 as Hecuba in "The Third Crown," based on the acclaimed book, marked a significant highlight in her television career.

Her contributions to the arts have garnered her numerous accolades, including the Marika Kotopouli Award in 1993, the International Theatre Institute Award in 1997, and the First Performance Award for her portrayal in Euripides' "Hecuba" in 2000. Notably, she received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 2013 Hellenic Academy Awards for her role in the film "Joy." Throughout her career, Protopsalti has captivated audiences with her performances in various series, including "A Greek," "Reformatory," and "Hippocrates Street," solidifying her status as a prominent figure in Greek cinema and theatre.
