Ajay Kalahastri Naidu, born on February 12, 1972, is a prominent American actor known for his diverse roles across film and theater. Hailing from Evanston, Illinois, and raised in Chicago, Naidu is the son of Indian immigrants from Chittor District, Andhra Pradesh. He completed his education at Evanston Township High School and later honed his acting skills at the American Repertory Theater's Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University.
Naidu's acting career began with his debut in the film *Touch and Go* in 1986, which he secured through an open casting call. This opportunity opened doors to television, where he appeared in the TV movie *Lady Blue* and an episode of the ABC Afterschool Special titled *No Greater Gift*. His early film credits include *Where the River Runs Black* (1986) and *Vice Versa* (1988). From 1988 to 1995, he dedicated himself to classical theater.
His return to film came with *SubUrbia* (1996), earning him acclaim and a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actor. Naidu's filmography features notable works like *Office Space*, *K-Pax*, *Requiem for a Dream*, and *Bad Santa*. He has also appeared in acclaimed series such as *The Sopranos* and *The West Wing*.
