Oliver Smith
Oliver Smith (born May 29, 1952) is a distinguished English actor, celebrated for his significant contributions to the horror genre, most notably for his portrayal of Frank the Monster in Clive Barker's iconic film, Hellraiser. In this groundbreaking film, Smith embodied the grotesque, skinless figure of Frank Cotton, the central antagonist, using elaborate makeup and effects crafted by Bob Keen. The character of Frank in his living form was played by Sean Chapman, while Andrew Robinson took on the role of Frank disguised in the skin of Larry Cotton. Smith's chilling performance became a hallmark of the film's chilling atmosphere.
He returned to this haunting role in Hellbound: Hellraiser II, where he also took on the character of Mr. Browning, a patient struggling with mental illness. Beyond his work in horror, Smith has made appearances in a variety of other notable projects, including his role as Saul in the acclaimed miniseries Jesus of Nazareth and as Drak in the long-running series Doctor Who. Smith lent his voice to Ronan the Accuser in the video game Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 and featured in the short films Dark Ditties Presents The Offer and Dark Ditties Presents Finders Keepers.
